CNC Plan

Rapid prototyping success depends on pre-visualization, planning and execution. When we utilize computer integrated manufacturing and rapid prototyping in our design process, we add a new layer of structure and planning to our work. Machines can’t go slower when they hit rough spots in wood during a cut or just go a bit shallower because we bought thinner than expected material. Everything has to go according to plan or undergo revision and adjustment. The bits shown here were used in conjunction with this machining plan to produce the Bulb Lamp. The machining plan dictates important variables in prototype construction such as expected initial part size, safe work holding locations, bit selection and spindle speeds required to transform our digital models into accurate prototypes.
